Tips to consider when you are buying your diamond ring.
| 1. |
The first would be colour. We would recommend never going below the colour grade J (slightly tinted white) when purchasing your diamond ring as you cannot notice at a glance that that the colour in the diamond. The grade that comes after that is K (tinted white) and the colour in the stone is clearly visible. Please view the colour chart for a better understanding. |
| 2. |
The second is grade. We again make the recommendation of never purchasing a diamond or engagement ring with a grade lower then lower then a SI3 OR I2 as this takes away from the brilliance in the stone and the inclusions become apparent in your diamond ring. |
| 3. |
The third is certification this is undoubtedly the most important of all. The certification needs to come from an accredited laboratory (EGL, DIA, GIA and JCSA). Most jewellers do this certification in-house. This is dangerous for many reasons, firstly they could be bias in the grading on the stone and secondly they do not have the equipment to CORRECTLY grade and test the diamond to see if it is synthetic or not. Or as we have seen the in some jewellers they issue your diamond a grade that does not exist e.g. SI1-SI2. This grade does not exist it should be either SI1 OR SI2. The fourth is price, a diamond with a certificate is of the same value where ever you get it from. We have also seen some unscrupulous jewellers that sell a diamond ring for triple what its worth. For a comparative pricing please Click here for price calculator |
